SCOPING RATES & PROCEDURES
I work in CaseCatalyst and have not only socped and proofread in the program, but have also worked in Quality Control, making sure finished transcripts are polished and the covers and index pages are working properly, so I have good knowledge of the coding in the program and how to troubleshoot when things aren’t looking right.
Your time is important, and with my help, you can spend more of it on what matters most and less on re-reading your own work.
how i work
Once we have agreed on timeline and rates, and have gone over any personal preferences you have in how you transcribe, I will ask you to send me your backed-up CaseCatalyst file and any external audio files you may have. While I can scope to just the audiosync, an external audio file can sometimes make the process smoother as it can be put into an external player that uses a foot pedal.
Files can be sent via Dropbox, Microsoft Office OneDrive, Google Docs, or any number of websites meant to send large files. Whichever method you’re most comfortable with, I should be able to use. Additionally, if you have a spelling list for the job, that will also be helpful.
I will listen to the full audio of your file as I read along, making corrections as needed, cleaning up the text, fixing misspellings, punctuation and anything else that catches my eye. If there is something I just cannot make out or otherwise have a question about, I will leave a hidden text note for you or a short caret.
I can also correct formatting as needed, to be sure the scoped transcript meets with your preferred transcript format. I may ask for your layout and/or include files to make this easier.
I will work quickly but thoroughly and will return the backed-up CaseCatalyst file without the audio so that it can be easily emailed to you.
I strive to be a good teammate, and am always willing to discuss any concerns or issues you may have. If you have any special needs or requests, just ask! No job is too big or too small.
step 1
Contact me via email or my contact form below. We will discuss the size and timeline of your project and agree on a rate. Then leave the rest of the work to me!
step 2
I will scope your project and send back the file with audiosync removed to keep file size to a minimum.
step 3
For new clients, invoices are sent immediately upon completion of the first job. For established clients, invoices are sent out on the 1st and 15th of the month. Payment terms are 15 days.
My Rate Sheet
My standard turnaround time is five days (Mon-Fri). If you need something faster, or need it done over a weekend, it will be at the expedite rate, as outlined below. Please contact me for any special situations or requests and I will be happy to work with you!
All rates quoted below are for standard transcript format. Longer pages (more than 28 lines) will incur an upcharge that we can discuss in advance. Especially dense pages (voir dire, jury selection, heavy colloquy) may also incur an upcharge, which we can discuss when the matter arises.
Other upcharges: difficult audio and/or interpreters, $0.10 per page; page growth over 10 pages will be charged at the next rate level for the added pages.
